A list of 20 women medical workers at the frontline of the battle against the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) was unveiled ahead of International Women's Day.
The selection was jointly held by Publicity Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), the All-China Women's Federation, the CPC Committee for Departments Directly under the National Health Commission, and the Political Work Department of the Central Military Commission.
The event aims to extend respect and regards to all women medical personnel at the front line of the battle against the COVID-19, send greetings to them upon the arrival of International Women's Day, and call on women from all walks of life in the country to follow the example of honored role models and make their own contributions to the final victory over the disease.
Statistics show that over 40,000 medical workers from across the country have been working in Wuhan, the epicenter of the epidemic outbreak and capital city of Central China's Hubei Province, since late January. A majority of them are women, who have shown their bravery and professionalism amid the epidemic prevention and control work. Their touching stories have inspired countless people across the country.
